The hurricane, which made landfall as a Category 4 storm, unleashed torrential rainfall, resulting in nearly 30 inches of rain over just three days—equivalent to about four months’ worth. This overwhelming downpour led to catastrophic flooding.

The impact was deeply felt in Asheville and nearby communities, leaving homes destroyed, vehicles overturned, roads washed out, and businesses wiped off the map. As of October 4th, officials have confirmed at least 105 deaths in Western North Carolina, and this number is likely to rise as rescue efforts continue.

The aftermath of Hurricane Helene is severe. Many residents in North Carolina are still without power or drinking water, and several communities are isolated due to damaged infrastructure and impassable roads. Search and rescue efforts are ongoing, with emergency responders working tirelessly to reach those affected.
